This heaven on earth cake is an easy no-bake dessert of angel food cake, cherry pie filling, vanilla pudding, and whipped topping, chilled until cool and creamy.
Whisk pudding mix, milk, and sour cream together in a large bowl until smooth. Set aside.
Spread half the angel food cake cubes in an even layer in a 9x13 baking dish.
Spoon two-thirds of the cherry pie filling over the cake and spread evenly. Top with the remaining cake cubes.
Pour the pudding mixture over the top and spread into an even layer.
Spread Cool Whip over the pudding layer. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining cherry pie filling on top and swirl with a butter knife or skewer if desired.
Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight. Top with sliced almonds just before serving.
Notes
Swap the cherry pie filling for blueberry, strawberry, or peach, and swap the pudding flavor to match. Cheesecake or white chocolate pudding both work well here.
This same recipe works as a trifle or in individual dessert cups.
Homemade angel food cake and freshly whipped cream can replace the store-bought versions if you have the time.
